An Attitude of Gratitude
Today before getting ready for church, I was scrolling on TikTok and stopped when I came across a video where a guy was saying how he bought 2 cases of water that were on sale for 2/$7. He had no car to get home and knew he could complain, but instead said that he was just grateful that he had working legs to to get him home. And so, he humbly walked all the way home with the 2 cases of water, stopping whenever he got tired, all while being grateful for the ability to walk.
It was so humbling to me because I'm guilty of finding things to complain about with my car or home, etc. I should be grateful just to have my car in the first place. The world is always telling us to get the next best thing and lately there's a trend with overconsumption and I think this can make us ungrateful for what we have if we're not careful. It's okay to want better and to want nice things, but I do think it's important to be mindful that we remain GRATEFUL for those things once acquired. It's easy to take the same things we pray about for granted.
When I stop and remember times where I was in the hospital and could not breathe on my own or walk on my own, it reminds me to pause and be very thankful for my health. God has blessed me ABUNDANTLY! Not just with material things, but with family, friends, and a sound mind. I'm grateful to have a relationship with Him.
He has done so many things in my life that I am grateful for, so I really have no reason to complain. I know that He has a plan for my life and that I will always be covered by Him and for that I am forever thankful.
Can you think about 3 things that you are grateful for today?
Remember that gratitude brings joy.
