Finding True Joy: The Ultimate Accessory You Can’t Buy
Hey Pretty Girls! Today, I wanted to chat about something a bit deeper than the perfect aesthetic- something that completely transforms how we live our lives from the inside out.
We live in a world that is constantly selling us the next version of "happiness." It tells us that if we get that dream job, get that promotion, or finish renovating our space, we will finally be content. And don't get me wrong, I loveeee a good shopping day and a beautiful home as much as anyone! But have you ever noticed that worldly happiness usually has an expiration date?
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the difference between fleeting happiness and the deep, unshakeable joy that only comes from Jesus.
Happiness vs. Joy
It is so easy to confuse the two, but they are actually completely different:
Happiness is conditional. It depends entirely on our circumstances. When things go right, we feel happy. When things go wrong, that feeling vanishes.
Joy is a fruit of the Spirit. It is a steady, beautiful undercurrent of peace that doesn't change when our circumstances do. It belongs to us because of whose we are.
When we anchor our hearts in Jesus, we discover a kind of joy that doesn't depend on a perfect day. It’s the comfort of knowing we are deeply loved, fully seen, and never walking alone.
Styling a Joyful Heart
How do we actually walk in this joy every day? Just like building a timeless wardrobe, cultivating joy takes a little bit of daily intention. Here are a few ways I love to anchor my heart:
Start with Scripture. Before scrolling through social media in the morning, open your Bible or a devotional app. Filling your mind with God's truth first thing sets a beautiful tone for the entire day.
Practice glamorous gratitude. Take a few minutes to thank God for the little things - your morning coffee, a sweet text from a friend, or a sunset. Gratitude turns what we have into more than enough.
Rest in His grace. Let go of the pressure to be perfect. You don't have to have it all together because Jesus already handles the heavy lifting.
True joy is the most beautiful thing you can wear. It softens our hearts, brightens our expressions, and spills over to the people around us.
Xoxo,
