The Joy in Serving Others

I’m realizing more and more how futile certain things are. In this world we live in, it’s normalized to be selfish and materialistic, always looking out for one’s self. I’m actually really turned off by the direction the world is going. While I believe it’s fine to have goals and do nice things for myself, I’m finding myself more and more questioning what I can do to serve others. How can I make someone’s day or spread some positivity?

As a Christian, one of the most important things that I can do aside from serving and having a relationship with the Lord, is serving others. Going to church is amazing. Sharing the gospel is great. Listening to gospel music and reading my devotionals is great. But in addition to this, I want to be the kind of person who gives just as much as I receive and I think there’s always room for improvement.

Whether it’s through being generous with what I have or volunteering my time and energy into a cause that’s bigger than me. How can I be a part of helping to make someone’s life better? How can I show kindness? What resources do I have that I can extend to those in need? I’ve been reminding myself that the Lord has blessed me abundantly and for that I’m so grateful, but it’s important to share what I’ve been given as well.

There is so much joy that I get from serving others. Life is so much bigger than me and my little world.I want to live my life fully, not in the way that the world defines that, but in the sense of giving back to as many people as I can.

"Do not act out of selfish ambition or conceit, but with humility think of others as being better than yourselves.” - Philippians 2:3
