My Studio Fix Era Is Over - Here’s What I’m Using Instead
For 12 years, MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation was a staple in my routine. I wore it faithfully and honestly never thought I’d need to replace it. It was one of those reliable products I could count on: matte, full coverage, and stayed put all day.
But recently, I found out that MAC changed the formula (an ongoing issue I have whenever I like a product), and several shades (including my NC47) were either renamed or removed completely. I didn’t care for the trial and error of seeing which of the new shades matched my old one, so I started searching for something that would give me everything I loved about Studio Fix - matte finish, full coverage, and long wear - without compromising my skin or my makeup standards.
And what I found? A gem:
Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Matte Powder Foundation.
This foundation has been such a smooth transition. It checks every single box:
It’s full coverage without being heavy or cakey
It’s matte, but still natural-looking on the skin
It doesn’t oxidize, which means no weird orange tones halfway through the day
And most importantly, it’s been great on my sensitive skin!
I wear the shade Rich Chestnut (5C1) and it’s the closest match I’ve found to my old NC47. It blends into my skin beautifully!
If you’re also feeling unsure about the changes to Studio Fix and need something new that still gives you that smooth, matte, polished look—definitely give Estée Lauder’s powder foundation a try. And if you’ve already made a switch, or have something that’s working well for you, I’d love to hear about it!
